Description
Templeton, a parish in Devonshire, 5 1/2 miles W by N of Tiverton station on the G.W.R. It has a post office under Tiverton; money order and telegraph office, Tiverton. Acreage, 1906; population, 170. The manor belonged to the Knights Templars, passed to the Pole family by the marriage of Sir William Pole the antiquary with the heiress of the Periams, and belongs now to the Chichester family. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Exeter; net value, £125 with residence. The church was rebuilt in 1876, and is a stone edifice in the Decorated style.
