Sampford Spiney, a parish in Devonshire, on the W side of Dartmoor, 2 miles NE by E of Horrabridge station on the G.W.R., and 4 ESE of Tavistock. It contains part of the village of Horrabridge, which has a post, money order, and telegraph office. Acreage, 1602; population of the civil parish, 454; of the ecclesiastical, 169. There is a parish council consisting of seven members. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Exeter; net value, £160. Patrons, the Dean and Canons of Windsor.
