Description
Doddiscombsleigh, a village and a parish in Devonshire. The village stands near the river Teign, 5 miles NNW of Chudleigh, and 2 miles from Ashton station on the G.W.R. Post town and money order office, Dunsford ; telegraph office,. Kenton. The parish comprises, 2441 acres; population, 250. Manganese and jasper are found. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Exeter; value, £234 with residence. The church is ancient, with a square turreted tower ; has some fine painted windows, and was well restored in 1879 and 1887. There is a small village library.
