Description

Bradworthy, a village and a parish in Devonshire. the village stands near the Bude Canal, 7 miles NNW of Hols-worthy station on the L. & S.W.R., and it has a post and money order office under Holsworthy; telegraph office, Kilkhampton. the parish includes also the hamlets of Alfardisworthy, Denworthy, Kimsworthy, and Youlston. Acreage, 9792 ; population of the civil parish, 861 ; of the-ecclesiastical, including Paucras Week, 1161. A considerable portion of the surface is moor and common. There are Wesleyan and Bible Christian chapels. Many traces of Roman settlements have been observed. The living is a vicarage, united with the perpetual curacy of Pancras-Week, in the diocese of Exeter; gross value, £268 with residence. Patron, the Crown. The church has an oaken roof and a lofty tower.
