Description

Ashford, a parish in Devon, on the north side of the estuary of the Taw, 2 1/4 miles NW of Barnstaple, and 2 from Wrafton station on the Ilfracombe branch of the L. & S.W.R. Post town, Barnstaple; nearest money order and telegraph office, Pilton. Acreage, 368; population, 151. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Exeter; value, £92. Patron, the Lord Chancellor. The church was built in 1854, and is a neat small edifice, with low square tower and a spire. The views nearly opposite Westward Ho are among the finest in Devon.
