Description

Abbots-Bickington, a parish in Devon, on the river Torridge, 7 miles NNE of Holsworthy station on the L. & S.W.R. Acreage, 1097; population of the civil parish, 53; of the ecclesiastical, 156. A blue limestone, used for building, is quarried. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Exeter; net value, £120. The ancient church was a cell of the abbey of Hartland. The present church is a small structure of chancel, nave, two aisles, and low tower.
