Description
Kirk Langley, a township and a parish in Derbyshire. The township lies 4 1/2 miles NW by W of Derby railway station, and has a post office under Derby; money order office, Mackworth; telegraph office, Brailsford. The parish contains also the village of Meynell Langley, and comprises 2552 acres; population, 613. The manor belongs to the Meynell family. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Southwell; net value, £250 with residence. The church is ancient, was repaired in 1840, and thoroughly restored in 1891-92, consists of nave, aisles, and chancel, with low embattled tower, and contains monuments of the Meynells. There is a Primitive Methodist chapel. Meynell Langley Park is the seat of the Meynells.
