Brimington, a parish in Derbyshire, near the Chesterfield Canal and the M.R. and M.S. & L.R., 2 miles NE of Chesterfield. The village is modern and well built, and has a post, money order, and telegraph office under Chesterfield. Acreage, 1343; population, 4034. Brimington Hall is a chief residence. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Southwell; net value, £200 with residence. Patron, the Vicar of Chesterfield. The church was built in 1808, and rebuilt, all except the tower, in 1847. There are also a mission church, three Methodist chapels, and some charities.
