Description

Brackenfield forms with Woolley a township and a parish, in the Chesterfield union, Derbyshire, 2 miles SW of Stretton railway station, and 4 NW of Alfreton, which is the post town; telegraph office, Higham. Acreage of township, 1551; population, 346. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Southwell; net value, £80. The church was built in 1857. The Alfreton Waterworks Company have three large reservoirs in this district.
