Waverton, Cumberland

Description
Waverton, a village and a township in Wigton parish, Cumberland, on the river Waver, 2 1/2 miles W by S of Wigton station on the Maryport and Carlisle railway. There is a post office under Wigton; money order and telegraph office, Wigton. The township includes the hamlet of Lesson Hall. Acreage, 4169; population, 439. Lord Leconfield is lord of the manor. There is a small chapel of ease in the Early English style erected in 1865.
