Description
Setmurthy, a township and an ecclesiastical parish in Brigham parish, Cumberland, near Cockermouth town, and 1 mile from Bassenthwaite Lake station on the Cockermonth, Keswick, and Penrith railway. Post town and money order office, Cockermouth; telegraph office, Bassenthwaite Lake station. Acreage of township, 2780; population, 139 ; of the ecclesiastical parish, 158. Lord Leconfield is lord of the manor. The living is a perpetual curacy in the diocese of Carlisle; gross value, £70. The church was built in 1794 and restored in 1870. There is an endowed school.
