Description
Salter and Eskat, formerly an extra-parochial tract, now a joint township in Cumberland, near the river Ehen, 6 miles SE of Whitehaven, and about 1 mile from Yeathouse railway station. Post town, Frizington. Acreage, 638; population, 182. The Earl of Lonsdale is lord of the manor. Limestone and iron-ore abound.
