Frizington, a large village and a township in Arlecdon parish, Cumberland, with a station on the Whitehaven, Cleator, and Egremont Joint railway, 3 miles E by S of Whitehaven, and a post, money order, and telegraph office (S.O.) A mineral spring is here, and ironstone is quarried. The living is annexed to the vicarage of Arlecdon, in the diocese of Carlisle; gross joint value, £300 with residence. Patron, the Bishop. There are a church, a Wesleyan chapel, and a Roman Catholic church.
