Wincham, Cheshire

Description
Wincham, a village and a township in Great Budworth parish, Cheshire, on the Trent and Mersey Canal, 2 miles NE by E of Northwich. Post town, Northwich; money order and telegraph office, Marston. Acreage, 1246; population, 1229. There is a parish council consisting of eight members. Part of the township of Wincham with Marston forms an ecclesiastical parish. (See MARSTON.) The manor belongs to Lord de Tabley. Wincham Hall is the chief residence. Close by is a college for young ladies. There are several rock-salt mines and salt manufactories, and a free Methodist chapel.
