Tilston, Cheshire

Description
Tilston, a village, a township, and a parish in Cheshire. The village lies 3 miles NW of Malpas, and has a post and money order office under Malpas; telegraph office, Clutton. The township comprises 799 acres; population, 305. The parish contains also the townships of Garden, Grafton, Horton, and Stretton. Acreage, 3769; population, 651. There is a parish council consisting of seven members. Garden Hall, Grafton Hall, and Stretton Hall are the chief residences. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Chester; gross value, £283 with residence. The church was rebuilt in 1875. There are Primitive Methodist and Wesleyan chapels.
