Childerley, a parish in Cambridgeshire, 3 1/4 miles NE of Caxton, and 6 1/4 NE from Old North Road station on the L. & N.W.R. Post town, Cambridge; money order office, Boxworth; telegraph office, Caxton. Acreage, 1069; population, 15. Childerley Hall is a fine mansion in the Elizabethan style. King Charles I. slept there one night on his way as a prisoner to London. There is a very valuable chimney-piece in the dining room. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Ely; yearly value, £50. There is no church, but service is held in a small private chapel in a garden.
