Stoke Mandeville, a parish in Bucks, 2 1/2 miles SSE of Aylesbury, which is the nearest railway station. Post town and money order and telegraph office, Aylesbury. Acreage, 1499; population, 356. A monument 26 feet high has been erected to the famous John Hampden. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Oxford; net value, £244 with residence. Patrons, the Dean and Chapter of Lincoln. The church, erected in 1886, is a small building of flint and brick in the Early English style; and a chapel of ease is in a detached tract 6 miles distant. The old parish church is also occasionally used.
