Description
Stoke Goldington, a parish, with a village, in Bucks, 4 1/4 miles NW of Newport Pagnell, and 4 E from Olney station on the Bedford and Northampton branch of the M.R. It has a post office under Newport Pagnell; money order and telegraph office, Hanslope. Acreage, 2352; population of the civil parish, 767; of the ecclesiastical, with Gayhurst, 858. There is a parish council consisting of five members. The manor belongs to the Carlile family. The livin 3/4 is a rectory, annexed to Gayhurst, in the diocese of Oxford; joint net value, £234. The church is an ancient building of stone in the Early English style. There is a Congregational chapel and a village reading-room. The lawyer Coke was a resident.
