Challow, West, a township and an ecclesiastical parish in the civil parish of Letcombe-Regis, Berks, on the Berks and Wilts Canal, 1 mile from Challow station on the G.W.R., and 2 miles W by N of Wantage, which is the post town. Acreage, 1070; population of the township, 189; of the ecclesiastical parish, including East Challow, 599. The living is a vicarage, annexed to East Challow, in the diocese of Oxford. The church, dedicated to St Laurence, is a plain edifice, chiefly in the Decorated and Perpendicular styles, with a Transition Norman west doorway, and was restored in 1892.
